Oaks Bottom, Sellwood Bridge

Mark McDonnell resides in SE Portland with his wife Lynn. It was a trip to Arles, Saint Remy, Aix-en-Provence, Antibes and Nice, and seeing the locations where Van Gogh, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso lived and worked, that inspired Mark to start painting. While he has done some plein air painting, Mark typically works in the studio from photographs of the places he has visited, as well as landmarks in the Sellwood neighborhood. Mark favors the bright colors of Mexico, Italy, and southern France.
