The Cocktail Party

“The Cocktail Party” was captured in the summer of 2021 at Lake Giles in Blooming Grove, PA on a Canon 5D Mark III, 35mm lens. Cart’s youngest and fourth child, Weatherly, wandered into the lake in her full party dress to play with rocks, bored of the adult cocktail festivities happening ashore.

Ashley Weeks Cart holds a BA in Art from Williams College and a MA in Curatorial Practices and the Public Sphere from the University of Southern California. Her work meditates on parenthood and grief and the interconnected worlds of both. She lives and works in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
